The spaces have a rational logic to them; they flow according to the overall programme
The tendency exists for the occupant to become disorientated, which is the purpose of large openings and a permeation of the environment within the travel path.

The embracing of the site through more than just destination is essential for the building to maintain its theoretical premise. Thus, the garden area which is a central element of th efloor plan; occupants must walk throough it to get to the kitchen, it is the first thing visitors see as they enter the house. It also serves to draw a relationship to the site in detail and just through expansive views.

The connection must be more than an organic aesthetic; it must be intrinsic within the movement, an eclectic experience of all forms of nature and not just the visual.

The form itself is derived from the path formation generated by key points within the site. The form then weaves its way as a merging and dispersal of form around these paths.
Structure is a composite ethylene polymer, combined with necessary aluminium frame work. Glass forms demarcate practical living space from outside/ garden spaces.
Paths made up of stone work that dissipates as they move away from the house
Blue stone makes up the bedroom floor, whilst floor boards form the rest

The material itself can be considered quite bland and sterile and this thus necessitates the vast amount of openings within the walls and roof structure; giving the feel of wrapping, weaving and merging - and not so much an enclosure.

A key aspect is the incorporation of the seemingly superfluous ‘emerging head’ from that rises above the house. It is Michael’s tower and it forms essential part of the overall programme. With out it, the tendency for occupants to become disoriented would certainly exist. There is an introverted nature to every space, and cannot become the constant. Thus, Michael’s tower exists as a private study away from the spaces below, giving him physical and sensory isolation as well as providing unobstructed panoramic views of the site
